Arnold Police Asking City Council for License Plate Scanner

The councilmen are also considering relinquishing rights to property and transferring it to a resident.

The Arnold City Council has a two items on its agenda for Thursday, July 5.

First, the councilmen will consider the Arnold Police Department's request for $6,500 to purchase a license plate scanner system for police vehicles. The system can read license plates, search the law enforcement database for warrants or tickets or other crimes, then quickly provide that information to officers on patrol.

The system costs about $16,000, Police Chief Robert Shockey said in a memo to the council.

The chief said he has about $9,800, from the police golf tournament fund raiser and from the sale of unclaimed property this year, of the scanner system's cost.

Second, the council will consider vacating a plat on Madison Drive then deeding it to Mr. Pogorzelski who owns the adjacent property, the council's agenda says.

Pogorzelski has cared for the plat because it is a grassy area next to his part of his back yard.

The play is not been used as road for years, the document says.
