Arnold's July 4 Fireworks Show Canceled

The celebration will continue with the scheduled concerts and food vendors.

The City of Arnold has cancelled the July 4 fireworks show due to weather conditions and dry grounds at Arnold City Park.

The food vendors, concert, and carnival activities will continue as scheduled, Arnold's Parks and Recreation Director Susie Boone said in a news release issued  Thursday afternoon.

Jefferson County 911, an emergency service provided by the county, issued a Special Weather Statement phone call advising Jefferson County residents to use extreme caution about anything that could cause sparks or flames.

"The unseasonably dry conditions, triple-digit temperatures and low humidity have created an extreme fire hazard into early next week," the emergency phone message said.

I wish all private use of fireworks would be outlawed during this heat emergency.
