Butch Cooley Is Only Council Candidate to Raise Money So Far

While many city council candidates have formed committees, only one has reported receiving a contribution so far.

The most recent round of campaign finance reports shows that most candidates running for Arnold City Council haven't raised much money for their campaigns yet.

Of the seven candidates running for a city council seat, only one has reported receiving any contributions.

A committee supporting Butch Cooley's campaign to become Ward 4 councilman received a $500 contribution from Hoisting Engineers Local 513.

Four other candidates—Jason Fulbright (Ward 1), Phil Amato (Ward 3), Rodney Mullins (Ward 3) and Sandra Kownacki (Ward 4)—have formed committees but haven't reported receiving any contributions yet.

Some candidates may have raised money in the past few weeks, but that information won't become available until March 25. That's the first campaign finance deadline for committees that were formed after Feb. 16.

If a candidate spends or receives $1,000 during a campaign, the candidate is required to form a committee before filing campaign finance reports. In the Ward 2 race, neither Jeff Fitter or Mary Elizabeth Coleman have formed committees, suggesting that they're not raising money in their bids to become the next Ward 2 councilperson.

The election is set for April 2.
