The United States Attorney’s Office said that Schrum worked for Axis Worldwide Supply Chain & Logistics, Inc., a company that assists in international and interstate shipping of large materials used in construction projects, until his employer released released him in April 2011.

He had no reason to use Axis’ computers after mid-May 2011.

Schrum then took a job with an Axis competitor. On June 12, 2011, Schrum accessed the Axis computer system, without authorization, and deleted customer shipment records, customer shipment history, and changed shipping rate tables.

Axis estimated that about $25,000 of damage occurred.

Schrum could be sentenced up to 10 years in prison and fined up to $250,000.
