Gate Expected on Tamarack Drive in Theodore Ridge Subdivision

A speed table and concrete barriers exist at the gate's expected location along the Arnold border in Jefferson County.

Theodore Ridge residents and Jefferson County neighbors living near the intersection of Tamarack Drive and Meadow Drive will see a gate built in the coming months.

The City of Arnold must remove the speed table occupying gate's planned location, Arnold's Public Works Director Bryson Baker said during the City Council meeting at , 2101 Jeffco Blvd., on June 7.

Theodore Ridge residents have agreed to pay the expected $1,000 cost to remove the speed table.

A speed table is similar to a speed bump but the former occupies more of the road and is slightly more flat, Baker said prior to the June 7 meeting.

The City of Arnold constructed a speed table, paid by the Theodore Ridge subdivision residents, to lessen the amount of speeding that occurred through the neighborhood.

The Rock Community Fire Protection District approved the barriers placement, Ward 2 Councilman Bill Moritz said during the March meeting. Fire fighters and medics need fast access to the homes in the area in an emergency.

Although a few drivers opposed the barriers at first, residents on both sides of the barrier apprciated the lower levels of traffic through their various neighborhoods.

As a result of the barriers' results, a new gate will be constructed. No date was given for the speed table's removal or the gate's construction.
