I-55 Widened in Jefferson County, MoDOT Celebration on Friday
Two lanes added—one southbound, one northbound—to Interstate 55 between routes M and Z.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will open the third lane of northbound and southbound Interstate 55 in Jefferson County with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
The event will occur at the old weigh scale location south of the interchange of I-55 and Route M on Metropolitan Boulevard.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funded the project to add two lanes on Interstate 55 between Route M and Route Z. This project will ease congestion and improve safety.

MoDOT contractors also replaced the two bridges on I-55 over Route M and Glaize Creek. The project’s total cost is $15 million.
In the event of bad weather, the event will occur at the MoDOT Barnhart Maintenance building at the roundabout on Route M and Metropolitan Boulevard.
