Motorists heading into downtown St. Louis this weekend, including those going to the Roger Daltry concert at the Peabody and the St. Louis Blues opening game, should avoid using Interstate 70.
MoDOT will be closing all lanes of Interstate 70 between 10th Street and the Poplar Street Bridge starting at 8 p.m. to remove the Howard and 9th Street bridge over the interstate. The ramps between the Poplar Street Bridge and Memorial Drive as well as the ramps between the Poplar Street Bridge and I-70 will be closed during this work. All lanes will reopen before 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10.
To detour around the closure, drivers should use Interstates 64 and 170. There will be a detour for local traffic, but it will require driving on nearly two miles of city streets and about a dozen traffic signals.

When work is completed on Monday, crews will permanently close the ramp from eastbound Interstate 70 to 10th Street as part of ongoing construction for the new Mississippi River Bridge.
In St. Louis County, workers will close Ladue Road east of the new construction for Route 141 at 9 a.m. Oct. 14. This section of Ladue will remain closed until mid-November as crews work on connecting the new Route 141 to Ladue Road. Drivers can use Mason and Conway streets to detour around the closure.
