Interstate 55 Lanes to Close in Festus Tuesday Evening

The closure is part of a bridge replacement program.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) contractors will close one lane on northbound and southbound Interstate 55 at the BNSF Railroad bridge in Festus at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting.

MoDOT will build temporary bypasses for drivers using that section of I-55, MoDOT said in a news release.

Also, on Friday at 6:30 p.m., MoDOT crews will close one northbound and southbound lane on I-55 to remove sections of bridges in the area.

MoDOT expects to re-open the lanes by Sunday at noon.

This work will help create new bridges on Interstate 55 between Herculaneum and Festus and is should be completed by late 2012, MoDOT said in the release.
