“I welcome the opportunity to represent many new people in the Arnold and South County areas” said McCaherty. “Obviously, I’m saddened to see that I will be losing a good number of friends and constituents in High Ridge and House Springs, but it is my hope that I can continue bringing common sense representation to Jefferson City.”

McCaherty, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Murphy, currently is vice-chairman of the House Committee on International Trade & Job Creation. In his first year in the House, McCaherty passed into law a measure which would designate a portion of Highway 30 in honor of a soldier who was killed in the line of duty while serving overseas. He also sponsored legislation which would reduce the paperwork burden on small businesses dealing with the Missouri Department of Revenue. He also serves on the Tax Reform, Downsizing State Government, & General Laws committees.
