Missouri State Fairgoers Eligible to Win a Kindle e-reader

Missouri's College Savings Plan is sponsoring the electronic book giveaway.

A Missouri fairgoer will win a Kindle electronic book reader and a $25 Amazon gift card from MOST, Missouri’s 529 College Savings plan, Thursday.

In a news release, State Treasurer Clint Zweifel said he hopes the digital electronic book reader will encourage children’s educational development.

“We all know that reading, especially early in life, is critical to a child’s development,” said Zweifel, who sponsors MOST 529.

The investments are used for tuition, certain room and board expenses, books and mandatory fees at most four-year colleges and universities, many two-year institutions and vocational schools, and some schools abroad, the news release stated.

MOST 529 savings can be used toward associates, bachelors and advanced degrees, the news release said. Account owners may deduct up to $8,000 in contributions each year their Missouri state income tax, the news release said, and married couples filing jointly may deduct up to $16,000 annually.
