MoDOT to Close I-44 Ramp on to I-270 Again This Weekend

Weekend drivers should use Highway 141 and Lindbergh Boulevard as construction detours.

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews will close the eastbound exit ramp from Interstate 44 to southbound Interstate 270 on Friday at 9 p.m.

The closure allows crews to continue work, which started earlier this year, on the bridges in the area.

Crews will also close the southbound I-270 ramp onto eastbound I-44 due to its location near the work zone, MoDOT said in a news release.

The department also provided the following alternative routes.

  • Southbound Detour-Motorists can use the Lindbergh exit as an alternative to I-270. Drivers should drive south on Lindbergh, turn west onto Gravois Road, then merge back onto I-270.
  • Eastbound Detour–People driving south on I-270 wanting to merge on to eastbound I-44 should exit at Gravois Road. Drivers should turn north onto Lindbergh, then merge onto eastbound I-44.

MoDOT will post signs to indicate the detour routes.

All work should be completed by 5 a.m Monday, weather permitting, MoDOT said in the release.

On Monday, I-270 drivers in South County will find the speed reduced to 45 mph, narrow lanes and the middle lane closed to traffic. Drivers should be in the two left or two right lines to avoid a wreck.
