MoDOT Website Provides Traffic Information via Email, Text Messages

MoDOT is working on about 800 bridges, many which will be closed this summer.

Drivers can use the Missouri Department of Transportation's Gatewayguide.com website to receive up-to-the-minute information about traffic conditions around the St. Louis area.

The website shows about 300 live camera views and provides real-time information on wrecks, work zones and lane closures.

“Our goal is to keep traffic moving.  The better informed you are of current road conditions, the better choices you can make for a quick, safe trip,” MoDOT Assistant District Engineer Tom Blair said in a news release.

The information is sent to requesters’ email accounts or cell phones.

MoDOT also said it is about half way through a five-year program to repair 800 bridges.

During this summer many bridges will be completely closed to complete the changes as quickly as possible.

The department’s Safe & Sound website tells which bridges are closed due to construction and which will be closed in the coming months.
