New Bridge, New Road Opens in Fenton

Old Highway 141 span over Fenton Creek opens for traffic.

It was a week of openings in Fenton as a new bridge and a new street made their debut.

The Old Highway 141 bridge over Fenton Creek is now open for traffic. Fenton City Administrator Mark Sartors advised caution on the new roadway as final grading and striping has yet to be completed. The opening of the bridge and roadway will eliminate the detour through the Gravois Bluffs shopping area.

Another road opening also will help those who drive in and around Gravois Bluffs. Representatives from G.J. Grewe Inc, the developer of Gravois Bluffs, Fenton Mayor Dennis Hancock and Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jeannie Braun were on hand for a ceremonial ribbon cutting to open of Gravois Bluffs Mitchell Drive at the southern end of the shopping area. Last fall the eastern end of Gravois Bluffs Mitchell Drive was opened to provide an additional exit to Highway 141. Now the road is open westward to McCarthy Drive (also known as Saline Road).
