Presidential Race Primary Reason Arnold Residents Say They Voted

Many voters told Patch the presidential race was what brought them to the polls as opposed to a single, specific issue.

By the time the polls opened at 6 a.m. this morning at Immaculate Conception in Arnold, there was a line wrapped around the building. But poll workers told Patch the line moved quickly getting voters in and out.

Around 9 a.m., there were no lines and voters quickly walked in, cast their vote and left. Many voters Patch spoke with, like Jackie Yeager and Cindy Syles, said the reason they came out was to cast their vote for president as opposed to a single issue.Β

Cole West, of Arnold, told Patch he is pro-Obama because of the president's stance on healthcare.

"My 4-year-old has a heart condition, and Obama's plan would eliminate the pre-existing condition clause so my daughter Ava could get health insurance," West said.

Other voters said they came out to vote because it's a right.
