Santorum Wins 56 Percent in Jefferson County, Caucus is March 17 in Hillsboro

Romney was second with 20 percent of the Republican vote.

The results of the Missouri Primary have been released by the Jefferson County website, and no surprise, Rick Santorum won 4707 votes, winning 56 percent of the 8296 total Republican votes cast. Mitt Romney was second with 20 percent.

On the Democratic side, President Obama garnered 81 percent of the votes–2151 out of 2650 total votes. After Obama, “uncommitted” came in second, with 253 votes–almost 10 percent.

Kelly Jaye, a blogger for the Jefferson County Tea Party encouraged Republicans to participate in the GOP Presidential Caucus on March 17th.

“Stand by your candidate, and do not let anyone intimidate you!” Jaye said, “Find some friends and go as a group. Offer to give a ride to someone that does not have transportation. Just get out and VOTE!”

Any registered voter that declares they are a Republican can participate in the caucus in the county in which they are registered, according to The Missouri Republican Party website.

The Jefferson County caucus is at the Hillsboro R-3 Intermediate School, 10478 Business 21, Hillsboro, MO 63050 on March 17 at 10 a.m.
