Seven Appointments to Arnold Commissions

The Arnold City Council has approved a total of 13 commission members this year.

Arnold City Council members, in seven unanimous votes, approved five candidates to sit on the Arnold Police Personnel Board, one person to the Arnold Tourism Commission and one person on the city’s Planning Commission.

The following people will sit on the police personnel board for two-year terms ending on April 1, 2012:

  • Del Williams
  • Ed Zimmermann
  • Bob Taylor
  • Vernon Sullivan
  • Peggy Allen

All the candidates are re-appointments except for Peggy Allen, stated documents posted on the City of Arnold website. Allen, who was a police personnel board member in the past, will begin a new two-year term ending on April 1, 2012.

Allen said, in a email to Mayor Ron Counts and provided on the city’s website, that her father Ray Baum was an original member of the Arnold Police Personnel board and served for 20 years. She said former Mayor Mark Powell appointed her to the board for her initial term.

The Tourism Commission will add Sue Goss with a term ending on Dec. 31, 2013. She will complete Commissioner Betty Elfrink’s term. Elfrink resigned from the commission due to health issues, the document stated.

Goss has been an Arnold resident for more than 40 years, graduated from Fox Senior High School and has 35 years of combined work experience travel and in customer service, documents stated.

Andrew Sutton will serve a four-year term, ending on Nov. 17, 2015, on the Arnold Planning Commission. Sutton works at SSM Health Care, in St. Louis, with a physician services group. Sutton has a public relations degree from Webster University, stated documents posted on the City of Arnold website.

Announcing the appointments and re-appointments is needed to comply with Arnold ordinances, City Administrator Matt Unrein said during the City Council Meeting at City Hall, at 2101 Jeffco Blvd., on Nov. 17.

The council will announce numerous commission re-appointments during the remaining meetings this year, Unrein said.

Council members approved six appointments to other commissions during its Nov. 3 City Council meeting.
