Jefferson College and the Jefferson County Growth Association has scheduled two forums for candidates in state and county election contests. The forums will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 and Tuesday, Oct. 2 in the Arts and Sciences I Little Theater (Room 119) on the Jefferson College campus in Hillsboro.
The general election is Nov. 4.
Featured at the Sept. 27 forum will be candidates for various county offices, including judge, sheriff, treasurer, assessor, public administrator and county council.
The Oct. 2 forum will feature candidates for such statewide offices as U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer, attorney general, state senator and state representatives.involving county, state, and national races.
Since congressional redistricting has changed many election districts in Missouri, the forums are an opportunity for candidates to present their respective viewpoints to the community. All Democratic and Republican candidates in contested races have been invited to participate. Each candidate will have five minutes to discuss his or her qualifications and what they will do for the county and the community if elected.
While no questions will be taken during the event, candidates for both contested and uncontested races have been asked to stay after the forum to talk with audience members.
Both candidate forums will be broadcast live on KJFF radio (AM 1400) and streamed via the Jefferson College website (www.jeffco.edu), and rebroadcast on JCTV and Vimeo.
