If your business does not have a properly implemented, written drug policy, an employee let go for that reason can claim unemployment benefits.

I was speaking with an official at the Missouri Division of Employment Security recently and learned some vital information.

If your business or organization does not have a written drug policy that is properly implemented, and you fire an employee for drug or alcohol use, that employee can claim unemployment benefits.

On the contrary, if you properly implement a drug policy, you are protecting your business or organization from unwarranted unemployment claims.
