Fox Arts and Crafts Fair Helps Families in Need

This month, Fox High School sponsored its biannual craft fair to benefit Jefferson County residents.

Fox High School holds an arts and crafts fair twice a year allowing local vendors to selling their unique wares at the school. The fair's proceeds benefit students and families in need.

Earlier this month, the school held the second of the two fairs and raised more than $3,000. The money from the event funds scholarships for graduating seniors and for the Christmas Wish Drive.

Each year, the district sponsors a family in the community during the holiday season. The money goes toward the Wish Drive and gives students a better sense of community needs, said Cindy Farris, Fox science teacher and craft fair organizer. "They become a little more compassionate," she said.

Students also volunteer to help vendors during the day. Students carry and set up vendors' wares and clean up at the end of the day. "It went very smoothly due to the kids," Farris said.

All the vendors complimented the students for being polite and helpful, Farris said.

Senior scholarships will be distributed at the end of the year and preparations for next year's Christmas Wish Drive are underway. The next fair will occur in November.
