Fox C-6 MAP Performance Flattens in 2010

Fox C-6 School District MAP test scores remain higher than the state average but remain the below the desired rate.

Fox C-6 School District received mixed news on Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) 2010-11 test results released by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) on Thursday.

The Fox school district performance continued to surpass the state average but fell short of the target rate, according to DESE data.

For the most recent test results, the Missouri state average in math was 54.2 percent testing proficient and 54.6 percent testing proficient in reading. Fox district scores were 63.3 percent and 67.6 percent respectively.

Missouri schools needed 72.5 percent of students to test at grade level in math and 75.5 percent test at grade level in reading to achieve "Adequate Yearly Progress" this year, reported Kalen Ponche, St.Charles Patch Editor.

The MAP tests indicate the percentage of students performing at grade level, a requirement of the federal No Child Left Behind education policy, reported Alyssa Stahr, Sunset Hills-Crestwood Patch Editor. The federal policy's goal is to have all students performing at grade level by 2014.

Only about 16 percent of school districts, 92 of the 557 districts, in Missouri met math and reading goals this year, according to the preliminary results released Thursday, Stahr reported.

Schools that do not meet goals face possible sanctions such as paying for additional tutors to allowing students to transfer to another district school that met the benchmarks, Stahr reported.
