Game Preview: Fox Braces for a Motivated Lindbergh Football Team

The Flyers hope to keep Fox winless this season when the teams meet in a Suburban West Conference matchup at 7 p.m.

Lindbergh will be aiming to keep Fox (0-2) winless in their Suburban West Conference matchup at 7 p.m. on Friday night.

Lindbergh (1-1), coming off a to Lafayette last week, is led by their senior quarterback, Peter Simpson. Simpson has 16 completions for 383 yards and five touchdowns this season. His main target has been senior Ryan Woodland (five catches for 79 yards).

Behind Simpson stands senior running back Grant Krueger, who has 13 carries for 33 yards, and junior running back Kevin Rogers, who has seven carries for 47 yards.

The Lindbergh specials team unit features Garrett Krueger. The 5-foot-11 sophomore running back has 200 total yards in punt and kickoff returns.

The Lindbergh defensive line will pose a huge threat to the Warriors. The Flyers feature Chris Kew, who already has 15 tackles and 1 interception, Grant Kruegger (11 tackles, one interception) and Payton Reed (seven tackles, three sacks).

The 0-2 Warriors will be playing in front of their home crowd on Friday, and will need some energy to help bounce back from last week’s disappointing 39-0 loss against Ritenour.

Offensively, the Warriors are really struggling this year. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Thompson has only completed 12 passes for 81 yards this season. Junior running back Tyler Giunta has run for 120 yards this season, but has yet to score. The sole Warriors TD this season was by senior runner Cameron Blanton during Fox’s opening game against Parkway South, a 19-6 loss.

The Warriors defense has one fumble recovery and three interceptions in their first two games. Junior defensive lineman Jimmy Huskey leads the Warriors with 11 tackles and six assists.

On special teams, senior kicker Nick Bartollota is averaging 36 yards per punt. Fox head coach Brent Tinker will need his players to bringing their A-game if they are going to defeat the Flyers of Lindbergh.
