The 6,500-square foot project added three general purpose classrooms equipped with SMART technology, a computer classroom, a science lab, and additional administrative offices, Jefferson College spokesman Roger Barrentine said in a news release.

Jefferson College President Dr. Raymond Cummiskey said, “This construction project is vital to our continued growth and commitment to provide high quality, affordable educational access in the St. Louis region.”

The Jefferson County government and the use of Recovery Zone Economic Development Bonds in the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Cummiskey said.

The expansion is directly linked to enrollment increases and higher education needs in northern Jefferson County. Jefferson College is better equipped to serve the entire area with the state-of-the-art expansion. The college’s main campus is in Hillsboro, there is a new facility in Cedar Hill, a renovated site in Imperial and an online virtual campus, the news release stated.

“Knowing that Jefferson College is providing a first-class education, the programs at Arnold are a reflection of the college’s long-standing commitment to our community,” Cummiskey said.
