Meet Linda S. Nash — Fox C-6 School Board Candidate

A questionnaire was sent to each of the seven candidates running for three, three-year terms on the Fox C-6 School District Board of Education. The following, in their own words, are their responses.

Incumbent board member Linda S. Nash and her husband, Dennis L. Nash, have three sons and three grandchildren and live in Arnold.

A life-long resident of the district, Nash and her husband are both graduates of Fox high schools. Nash has an associate’s degree from Jefferson College and has attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Nash is President and Chief Executive officer of Matthews Book Company and also has a Masters Certification in Board Education with 76 hours of training.

“Through my experiences as a Manager and CEO in an employee-owned company I have gained considerable knowledge in team-building, operations, finances and goal achievement,” Nash said. “My experience in facilitating and leading my company’s Executive Team through challenging decision-making processes will be an asset to the Fox School Board.

“Throughout my career I have volunteered my time to my company’s trade association,” she said. “This has given me the opportunity to create numerous educational programs for executives, middle managers, and line employees working in university bookstores across the country. I have facilitated and taught educational workshops and seminars at both local and national levels. This experience has given me the insight to recognize the importance of education at all levels and has fueled my desire to bring the benefit of my experience to the Fox School District.”

How will the Fox C-6 School District deal with expected major cuts in state revenue?

“It will be important to continually examine cost saving methods that can be implemented while maintaining a quality education for our students. As we anticipate what the revenue shortfall will be, plans will be developed to manage the District with the available funds. We must be diligent in monitoring how the money is spent, and with budgeting for the future.”

What programs need to be added or deleted?

There are no specific programs that come to mind immediately to me that should for sure be added or deleted. The goal should be to make decisions with the best interests of the students in mind. As needs are identified, this will be what guides my decision-making.”

Do you think a tax increase is needed to offset the dwindling resources of the school district?

“I do not believe a tax increase is necessary for the tax payers of our district. It will be imperative to examine closely how the tax dollars are used while keeping the best interests of our students as a top priority.”
