Meet Vernon Sullivan — Fox C-6 School Board Candidate
A questionnaire was sent to each of the seven candidates running for three, 3-year terms on the Fox C-6 School District Board of Education. The following, in their own words, are their responses.
Vernon Sullivan is married with three grown sons and six grandchildren. His sons graduated from the Fox C-6 School District. He is also a U. S. Army veteran and served from 1964 through 1966.
Among Sullivan’s civic and community service memberships are president of the University of Missouri Extension Board (2010-present); chairman of the Arnold Police Board (2003-present); director of the Fox C-6 Scholarship Golf Tourney (1999-present); president of the City of Arnold Public Facilities Corp.; chairman of the Friends of Fox (1994-present); member of the Board of Directors of the Arnold Food Pantry (2003-present) member of the Arnold Rotary (2002-present); chairman of the Arnold Committee on the Creative Arts (2010-present); member of the City of Arnold Economic Comm. (2010-present); trustee of the Webb Terrace Subdivision (1987-present); member of the New Hope Methodist Church (1968-present).

”The Fox C-6 School District must be smart caretakers of our tax dollars to make sure the best staff and latest technology are in the classroom. We must be very proactive in lobbying Jefferson City for the needed educational funding. School Board members must be creative in the operational choices and funding of programs. Always put the students first. We must maintain excellence in education. Therefore programs that assist teachers in producing student excellence must continue. Spend out tax money locally and hire locally to make sure tax dollars paid here stay here.”

”We must keep the Parents as Teachers program for early testing to help the young students from 3-5 years old be ready for kindergarten. The Early Childhood program must be funded to make sure the students 3-5 years old are ready for next step. We must spend our money in the classroom to prepare our students to be leaders of tomorrow.”
Do you think a tax increase is needed to offset the
dwindling resources of the school district?
”No. The Fox C-6 School District will not need a tax increase. We must be smart caretakers of our tax dollars and spend our money on the students.”
