Seckman Music Performers Invited to Carnegie Hall

Seckman's performance in Chicago's Heritage Festival in March earned the invitation to New York City.

Seckman Senior High School music performance groups have received an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Seckman’s concert choir, treble concert choir and men's ensemble are among a few groups to receive an invitation from the Heritage Festivals, Laura Mannthe, organization’s spokeswoman, said in a news release.

Directed by Mark Cotter, the groups’ performance earned a Gold rating during the Chicago 2010 Heritage Festival in March. The performance earned the group an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall this year or in 2012.

Over the past year, thousands of students from hundreds of schools have competed for the opportunity to perform at Festival at Carnegie Hall and Festival of Gold. The opportunity is designed to the best music ensembles from around the country.

Participating students learn to improve their skills by meeting with performers from around the county. The students also have an opportunity to experience New York City’s culture.
