Former Fox Hoops Star Playing For Meramec

Former Warriors basketball standout Alen Hadzimahovic is playing well as a sophomore forward for Meramec Community College.

Former basketball standout Alen Hadzimahovic is now making an impact as a sophomore forward for Meramec Community College.

Hadzimahovic played a key role this season for the Magic, which ended its season on Saturday by winning the seventh-place game in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Tournament, 56-54 over Lakeland. Meramec went 28-8 this season and was ranked in the top 10 nationally much of this season.

Hadzimahovic averaged 10.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this season for legendary JUCO head coach Randy Albrecht, who has coached the Magic to 26 consecutive winning seasons. Albrecht has over 700 career victories and is a member of the NJCAA Basketball Hall of Fame.

It is unknown where Hadzimahovic will play next, assuming he continues his basketball career.

Hadzimahovic, who is six-foot-six, had a brilliant prep career, and senior season, at Fox. In his final season at Fox in 2009-10, he averaged a team-high 19.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Hadzimahovic averaged 19 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in his junior season for the Warriors.

With over 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds, Hadzimahovic is arguably the best basketball player in Fox history as no other player has achieved those numbers.
