Matt Kraus is Seckman's First Repeat State Champ

Kraus won the Class 4 112-pound state title by defeating Park Hill High School's Michael Olsen. Seckman's wrestlers finished in fourth place with 103.5 points.

Junior Matt Kraus made school history when he defeated Park Hill’s Michael Olsen to win the Class 4 112-pound state title.

“He’s the first multiple time state champ for the school,” coach Frank Valleroy said. “It’s huge.”

Kraus edged past Olsen with a 3-2 overtime win. “He’s one mentally tough son of a gun.”Valleroy said.

Tim Niewald finished second overall in the 171-pound bracket. He lost to Ozark’s CodyLindsay.

Denny Kleinschrodt placed third overall in 125-pound weight class.

Seckman finished in fourth place with 103.5 points.

Blue Springs High School's wrestling team placed first with 173 points. Francis Howell Central took second with 126.50 points. Park Hill was third at 121 points.
