Seckman Falls Short at Kirkwood

The Jaguars see a festive Kirkwood crowd cheer their Pioneers team to a 42-7 win.

It was a festive atmosphere at Kirkwood High School on Friday night. Unfortunately, the Seckman Jaguars had very little reason to share in the joy.

The Kirkwood crowd buzzed with excitement before, and during the game as the Pioneers dominated Seckman throughout the game, which ended in a resounding 42-7 victory for Kirkwood (2-0).

Seckman (0-2) running back Blake Pepper had 43 yards an 13 carries, but it was receiver Cody Tolliver who stood out for the Jaguars. Tolliver had six receptions for 75 yards.

A relentless stream of football fans flocked to the St. Louis Rams tent before the game as they waited for autographs from St. Louis Rams cheerleaders Morgan Wallace and Aundrea Palmer, and Rams tight end Lance Kendricks.

The pros came out to the Pioneers' football game against Seckman School to promote Kirkwood School District Day at the Rams' home opener Sunday against the Phildelphia Eagles.

The Kirkwood High School Band will perform Sunday during halftime, and throughout the Rams game.

"I just picked up the phone one day, and Ginger (Fletcher, Kirkwood School District Director of Community Relations,) was very receptive," said Matt Honerkamp, a group sales rep for the Rams.

"The Rams saw it would be a great opportunity," Fletcher said. "(Maclin) is still very involved in the Kirkwood community. ... We are excited to support him and to support the Rams."

Seckman will host Parkway West this Friday at 7 p.m.
