Seckman's Kraus, Niewald Will Compete for Championships

Seckman High School's Matt Kraus and Timothy Niewald are the only Fox C-6 School District wrestlers with chances of winning a state championship in this weekend's tournament at Mizzou Arena.

COLUMBIA, MO — Only 112 of the 896 wrestlers who survived the first day of the state wrestling championships have a shot to win a state title at the Mizzou Arena today.

Seckman High School is the only school in the Fox C-6 School District with wrestlers competing in today's matches.

Seckman ranks in fourth place with 78.5 points in the Class 4 tournament. Matt Kraus and Timothy Niewald will both compete for the state title on Saturday. Kraus wrestles in the 112-pound weight class and Niewald in the 171-pound class.

Danny Farrell, Denny Kleinschrodt and Blake Pepper all have an opportunity to finish in third.

Fox High School has no wrestlers in today's competition and is tied for 42nd place with three points in this year's competition.

Blue Springs High School is in first place with 143 points. Park Hill High School is second with 95 points. Francis Howell Central is in third place with 94.5 points
