Arnold Days Car Show Spans a Century (Photos)

From 1900s stock cars to 2012 special interest category electric cars, Arnold Days put on quite a show on Saturday.

Near the entrance of the 10th annual Arnold Days Car Show, Bill and Carol Walter, of Arnold, sat with their gray and brown 1949 Oldsmobile on Saturday. “We’ve been into old cars as long as I can remember,” Bill Walter said.

“We went to buy a part for another car. It was in a storm. The lightning hit and we saw this car. So we struck a deal,” Carol Walter said. The couple has had the car for 18 years.

At the opposite end of the show lot, the Woerndle family, of Arnold, showed off their 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV, which they’ve had for only two weeks. The Woerndle family entered the electric car in the special interest category. “We love it,” Jimi Woerndle said. “We’ve been looking for an electric car for a long time.”

Around 125 cars entered the show this year in Arnold City Park. Car show organizer Claude “Butch” Cooley said he was very happy with the turnout.

“It’s a good number for a day like this that looks like rain from the start,” Cooley said. “And we have such awesome cars this year. It’s just beautiful.”
