At the last Arnold City Council meeting, Arnold Parks and Recreation Director Susie Boone said that a company from Imperial offered Arnold their carnival rides for the city’s Fourth of July celebration at . The rides will not have any cost to the city, Boone said.
Boone said that due to a cancellation with another city, the company providing the rides offered Arnold to set up their rides there free of charge. The city and the company would split the revenues of the rides’ tickets in half.
Boone asked the council permission to allow the company to put their rides at the carnival. She said the company was expected to take a few parking spaces for their rides.
“It will be a fun opportunity for the city. We have never had rides,” she said.
The council agreed to allow the company to set up their rides there, as long as they comply with insurance and city permits.
“It might be worth a shot to try it,” said Ward 4 Councilman Kenneth Moss, who was acting mayor for the meeting.
The Fourth of July celebration will be held from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Arnold City Park. The event is free of charge.
