Food for Movies Program to Help Hungry Families

National cable tv provider wants to raise thousands of pounds of food to help the hungry families in the St. Louis area.

Charter, a cable tv service provider has created a program to help raise food for local food pantries.

The company’s Movies for Food program, which runs nationwide, allows customers to exchange cans of food for Charter On Demand movie coupons. Customers donating four non-perishable food items will be able to watch on demand movies for 1 cent, a company news release said. 

Holiday time is especially difficult for many St. Louis area families,” said Sean O’Donnell, Charter Vice President and General Manager in Missouri and Illinois. “Our Movies for Food program lets us join together with our customers to make a difference in the lives of those in our community who may be experiencing tough times this winter.”

Customers donating eight or more non-perishable food items will receive two movie coupons.

All items collected in the St. Louis area will to the to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

The Charter office in Arnold, at 13 Village Plaza, is accepting food donations until Dec. 31. The following office locations are also accepting donations:

  • St. Peters, MO: 4160 Old Mill Pkwy, St. Peters, MO 63376

Charter employees have collected and donated almost 4,000 pounds of non-perishable food items for the St. Louis Area Foodbank in 2011
