Congratulations to Arnold for winning the 2012 Best Comprehensive Plan Award from the Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association! Mayor Ron Counts accepted the award at a recent City Council meeting on behalf of the city. Counts thanked the city's staff and members of the Planning and Zoning Commission for their hard work on the plan. "It's a pathway for the future of our city," he said, referring to the plan. Arnold is asking residents to get involved in shaping the city’s future at a public workshop next week to review and discuss revisions to the city’s comprehensive plan. The workshop will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 at the Arnold Recreation Center, located at 1695 Missouri State Road. The interactive session will include presentations and a project overview at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., as well as hands-on exercises to start the discussion. This marks the third workshop on the city’s comprehensive plan, which was last revised in 1996. The public has been invited to take part in creating a vision for Arnold 2030 and beyond.
The city is revamping its Comprehensive Plan used to guide growth and development in Arnold. The comprehensive plan will cover all of the relevant physical development components, including land use, zoning, water and sewer needs, street and traffic planning, fire and police stations, topography, slopes, soils, historic preservation, and urban design elements. It will incorporate existing plans such as the Greenway along the Meramec, the Storm Water Master Plan, the Hometown Plan, and the Transportation Plan. The plan was last updated in 1996.
