An Imperial man faces criminal charges after police say he pulled a gun on another man who was having an affair with his wife. Raymond Harris, 44, of the 2700 block of Spring Forest Road, has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree assault, according to a court document. The incident dates back to March 10. In the court document, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Department deputy wrote that Harris arrived to the 1200 block of State Road M in an attempt to fight with another man over the extramarital affair. Several people attempted to prevent the fight, which led Harris to punch one of them, the deputy wrote. He then pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill the man who was having the affair. A second teacher assault has been reported at Rockport Heights Elementary School. On Tuesday April 30, an 11-year-old boy assaulted his teacher while in class according to an incident report from the Arnold Police Department. The student was taken to the police station by the school resource officer, where he was turned over to a juvenile officer. The first assault happened on Wednesday, April 10, according to another police incident report. The teacher told police she was assaulted by a 10-year-old boy at school. The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to his parents. The case was then forwarded to the Juvenile Division. Jonathan Ortwein hit his girlfriend and pulled her hair, police state in court documents.
An Imperial man faces domestic assault charges stemming from an incident on March 1. Jefferson County Sheriff's Department officers say that Jonathan Ortwein, who lives at 3738 Hill and Dale Drive, assaulted his girlfriend by pulling her hair and hitting her with closed fists. Ortwein, 19, also broke her cell phone and didn't allow her to call for help, police state in court documents. Third-degree domestic assault is a class A misdemeanor that carries with it a punishment of up to a year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. The tenant dropped the knife, and the manager was able to subdue him in a choke-hold until Arnold police arrived.
A tenant at Value Place lunged at a manager with a knife while he was standing in the doorway of the man's room April 2. The manager was attempting to evict the 33-year-old St. Louis man, said Maj. Nick McBroom, of the Arnold Police Department. The man became upset and belligerent and slammed the door in the manager's face. The manager knocked on the door again, McBroom said. The man opened the door, grabbed a knife off the counter and lunged toward the manager. The man dropped the knife, and the manager grabbed him, holding him in a choke-hold until police arrived, McBroom said. Officers arrested the man for second-degree assault. He was booked and later released pending application for warrants.

A 28-year-old Arnold man was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Dec. 5 for dragging the owner of a stolen truck. Anthony Passiglia was charged with second-degree assault and vehicle theft. He is being held at the St. Louis County jail on $25,000 bond. St. Louis County prosecutors said Passiglia and Nicholas Doane, 19, of the first block of Wampler in Arnold, stole Doane’s father’s truck on Oct. 5. Doane’s father used a cell phone app to track the truck to a Kohl’s department store parking lot in Crestwood, where he confronted the two men and demanded his truck back. A man stole his father’s truck, and his friend drove off in the truck while the father was hanging onto the door handle, according to a Crestwood police report. Crestwood Police said that Nicholas Doane, 19, of the first block of Wampler Drive near Arnold, took the truck from his father’s Jefferson County home. Using an app on his cell phone, the father tracked them to the parking lot at Kohl’s in Crestwood, police said. He confronted Doane and his friend, Anthony Passiglia, 28, of Arnold, in the parking lot and demanded they return his truck. A mother, who tried to protect her son from heroin, faces assault charges.
Sherrie Gavan, of Hillsboro, faces assault charges after she confronted a 21-year-old man who allegedly supplied heroin to her son. Gavan, who was in Jefferson County Court on Monday, learned she could spend a year in jail, says the stltoday.com website. Gavan is a parent who lives in an era of cell phones when people can contact each other regardless of distance. Though her 18-year-old son's cell phone text messages, she learned that he was using heroin, the website said. She sent her son to live with a relative and gave the messages to the police.
