Guns 'N Hoses: Rock Community Firefighters to Compete in Boxing Event

Tickets are on sale for the annual Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses boxing matches amongst area firefighters and police officers at Scottrade Center Nov. 21.

Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses features three-round boxing matches between local police officers and firefighters to raise money for The BackStoppers, Inc., an organization that provides immediate financial aid and long-term financial and other support to the families of emergency responders who lose their lives in the line of duty. This annual fundraiser is held in the Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis on Thanksgiving Eve, which this year will be Nov. 21. Tickets are $20 and $30 each. The event starts at 7 p.m. Rock Community Fire Protection District firefighters Chris Granda and Joe Sanchez will be competing in the event. Organizers state Grey Eagle Distributors and Budweiser have been title sponsors of Guns ‘N Hoses since the event began …

Zombie 5K Run to be Hosted by St. Louis County Police

Runners are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes; prizes will be awarded. Participants are limited to 200. Save on the registration fee for this run until Oct. 19.

Recruits of St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy Class 178 will sponsor a first-ever Zombie 5K Run on Friday, Oct. 26, at Queeny Park.  Registration will begin at 7 p.m. and the race will start at 8 p.m. at the park, 550 Weidman Road. Registration is limited to those ages 12 and older. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes, as prizes will be given for the best costumes. The run will benefit the St. Louis BackStoppers. The registration fee is $30 until Oct. 19, and $35 afterward. Every participant will receive a Zombie Run shirt and Energizer headlamp.
