Moritz, who has served as a Ward 2 councilman since 2007, says a job change has precluded him from seeking a fourth term.
Ward 2 Arnold City Councilman Bill Moritz is not seeking reelection to his seat in 2013. Moritz told Patch a job change has precluded him from seeking a fourth term. According to his bio on the City of Arnold website, Moritz has been employed with Boeing since 1981 and is currently an aircraft production manager. Moritz was first elected to the council in 2007 and reelected in 2009 and 2011. He is a lifelong Arnold resident. Mary Coleman and Jeff Fitter are running for the Ward 2 seat in the April 2013 election.

If the council doesn't reverse its decision to accept the independent investigation on Moss' alleged harassment of a city employee, Bill Moritz intends to call for his removal.
Thursday's Arnold City Council meeting could turn out to be a showstopper with emotions running rampant among its members regarding the alleged harassment of a city employee by Ward 4 Councilman Ken Moss. In fact, one councilman has threatened to call for Moss' impeachment if the council does not reverse its decision to accept an independent investigation on the matter. Arnold's Parks and Recreation Director Susie Boone claims Moss harassed her for more than two years after his sister was fired from the Parks Department. Moss has denied the accusations and said if he did something wrong, he would have admitted it. A snapshot of a construction project in Arnold foretells the coming business on Richardson Road.
In July, ArnoldPatch posted a few photos of construction sites around the City of Arnold. Over the next few days we will publish new photos of the construction sites and the new businesses that have opened this year or will open in 2012. The pictures above show contractors building a new car service station business, Express Mart, that will open at 1919 Richardson Rd. No formal ribbon cutting date for the business owners has been given. The following photos show the Phillips 66 gas station that was formerly on the site. Arnold recieved business license applications for 25 new businesses this year, said Ward 2 Councilman Bill Moritz in an Oct. 21 email to voters. The City of Arnold hopes to begin work within the next few months to make more of the municipal-owned buildings compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. City Administrator Matt Unrein said the changes are in Arnold’s proposed fiscal budget. “Hopefully we’ll be able to get this (repair) in before the six-month budget review,” Unrein said. If the new doors are not installed prior the review, the city may lack the funds needed to pay for buying and installing ADA-compliant system for City Hall. Unrein spoke during the budget negotiations during the city council work session at City Hall Aug. 11. County Councilman Bob Boyer said the Jefferson County Council can pass a law limiting cold medicine sales in Arnold.
Arnold Ward 2 Councilman Bill Moritz rebuked Jefferson County Councilman Bob Boyer during the open comments period of the Arnold City Council’s meeting last Thursday night. “I don’t think you should be coming in here to swing a stick you don’t have (at the Arnold City Council),” Moritz said to Boyer. The County Council does not have authority over the City of Arnold, Moritz said. "You know that," Moritz said to Boyer. The following comments were posted on an article published on Monday afternoon about two Rock Community Fire Protection District firefighters traveling to help the people of Joplin, MO. The editor has brought the comments to this article for the readers' convenience. The comments were posted Monday night. Good evening, I was notified by a member of the Elks Lodge on the West Outer Road that they are holding a drive tomorrow for any non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, blankets, clothing, etc. In short they are looking for most anything that can be sent to Joplin to help the victims of the weekend tornado get by. Mayor Ron Counts and Police Chief Robert Shockey want to buy patrol all-terrain vehicles to stop poaching in city limits.
Mayor Ron Counts announced a warning to people poaching animals within Arnold’s city limits. “They are going to have some real problems. We do have laws in Arnold,” Counts said during the City Council meeting Thursday at City Hall, 2101 Jeffco Blvd. Three albino deer roam freely through the city and its parks, Counts said to council members and people attending the meeting. Counts heard that someone had illegally hunted and killed one of the deer within the city boundaries. Counts said he was disturbed and bothered by this. A few residents said they were uncomfortable entering city parks because they saw people carrying hunting weapons on the grounds, Counts said. “We have kids around there,” City Administrator Matt Unrein said. Mayor Ron Counts cast the tie-breaking vote allowing the law firm Armstrong Teasdale, which works for city of Arnold, to defend former Ward 2 Councilman Jerel Poor in a separate lawsuit. Counts vote, during a city council meeting on April 26, avoided a possible legal conflict of interest for the 241-lawyer firm with offices in St. Louis, Kansas City and Jefferson City. City Attorney Bob Sweeney said the firm works with him to defend Arnold in a lawsuit against Poor. Poor’s complaint is that a storm water charge imposed all property within city boundaries is unconstitutional, reported Missouri Lawyers Media, a trade publication. The week prior to Easter Sunday, Arnold residents watched their newly elected council and board members take office.
Arnold residents saw three newly elected council members — Doris Borgelt, Phil Amato and Sandra Kownacki — join re-elected Councilman Bill Moritz at City Hall chambers, at 2101 Jeffco Blvd., on Thursday night. On Tuesday night, the Fox C-6 School Board welcomed directors Linda Nash, Dan Smith and John Laughlin to the board and chose Ruth Ann Newman as president.
