Fun and community come together during this annual event.
KSDK showcases the sense of community created by Fox High School during the Fox Olympics, an annual event that took place Tuesday. Teams of special needs athletes and student coaches spend roughly six weeks preparing for the event, according to the report. But the games are about more than fun--it's an opportunity for participants to build relationships. Unofficial results are in from the county clerk's office in Jefferson County, with 100 percent of the precincts counted.
The Fox School District's $18.5 million dollar bond issue looks to have passed tonight with 67 percent of the voters in favor of the bond. The bond issue would allow the district to buy technology equipment, repair and improve school buildings, buy furniture, purchase school buses and convert existing athletic facilities into multipurpose facilities. MoDOT needs traffic information prior to installing a traffic arrow, and spending tax money, to help parents navigate traffic into the school campus from Jeffco Boulevard.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) began monitoring traffic at the entrance to the Fox C-6 School District, the intersection of Jeffco Boulevard and Tenbrook Road, on Wednesday. MoDOT is considering placing a left turn arrow on northbound Jeffco Boulevard to help drivers turn into the school campus, said Ward 1 Councilman Christine "Cricky" Lang during a city council meeting at City Hall, at 2101 Jeffco Blvd., last month. MoDOT, which manages Jeffco Boulevard instead of the City of Arnold, needs evidence about the intersection’s traffic flow prior to installing a traffic arrow, Lang said. Fox C-6 Superintendent Dianne Brown answered questions about the effect of snow days on the school year.
The Fox C-6 School District experienced 13 snow days this year. Superintendent Dianne Brown released a statement explaining how those days away from school will affect students' education as well as the school calendar. In her statement, Brown assured that the rest of the school year calendar will remain the same with makeup days added at the end. Missouri state law requires that six snow days be built into every school year. The school district has a policy, Brown said, that forgives more than 10 snow days in any academic year. Although Fox students have missed 13 days due to bad weather, they only have to make up 10. The school year will not extend past May 27, Brown stated in the release. There is a left turn lane and arrow for North and Southbound Jeffco, what is needed is a left turn arrow for traffic travelling west on Tenbrook and east from the campus. The majority of accidents that occur are when vehicles travelling from the campus straight across Jeffco to Tenbrook, when another vehicle makes a left turn onto Jeffco from westbound Tenbrook. more ›
