Fox Never Finds Footing In Rough Loss To Eureka

Warriors fall behind big in first half, suffer third loss in last four games, while Wildcats cruise to sixth straight win.

All week long, Brent Tinker, Fox High football coach, preached to his team that it would take one of its best efforts of the season to take down the Warriors' Friday night opponent, Suburban West Conference rival Eureka High. The Wildcats came into the ballgame as one of the hottest teams in the area, with five straight wins, and Tinker knew his club would be in for one of its stiffest tests of the season. Unfortunately, Fox wasn't quite up to the task Friday night at its own Gerald O'Connor Field, as Eureka scored the first five touchdowns of the game -- in the first half -- and cruised to a 33-7 win over the Warriors. Fox Football Falls At Home To Eureka, 33-7

Rough first half too much to overcome as Warriors suffer Senior Night loss to Wildcats.

Miscues and misplays proved too much to overcome for the Fox High football team, Friday night at Gerald O'Connor Field in Arnold, as the Warriors suffered a disappointing 33-7 loss at home against rival Eureka High. The Wildcats, who are now 6-2 on the season, with six straight wins, scored all its points in a fantastic first half, which featured three touchdown runs by junior Adam Yancey. Fox, which is now 4-4 this year, with three losses in its last four games, played much better in the second half, and even outscored Eureka 7-0 in the final two quarters. Quarterback Tyler Thompson, who passed for 76 yards, tallied Fox's only touchdown, on a 56-yard run in the fourth quarter. We'll have the full story on Fox's difficult Senior Night loss…

Fox, Northwest Pull Off Softball Upsets to Advance to Championship

Warriors top No. 1 seed Oakville, while Lions knock off No. 2 Seckman in two softball upsets on Thursday.

The drama and suspense of another South County girls softball season took perhaps its craziest turn of 2012 on Thursday. Fox High School and Northwest High School pulled off a thrilling double upset in the Class 4 District 2 semifinals, knocking off both top-seeded Oakville and second-seeded Seckman. Fox and Northwest will now meet in the Class 4 District 2 championship game Friday afternoon at Oakville High School. First pitch is set for 4 p.m., weather permitting. "It should be great game," said Seckman coach Steve Bonastia after his team had its season ended. "Obviously, those are the two hot teams. Northwest sure played great against us today. So it should be interesting to see how it goes (on Friday)." The Lions (13-11), who have won …

Tough Outing for Fox Football at Oakville

Warriors couldn't contain Oakville ground game in shutout loss.

The Friday night football bash at Oakville High School Friday night was quite a battle, as the Tigers defeated the visiting Fox Warriors. The Homecoming eve football party at Oakville turned out to be quite a celebration for the Tigers, who rumbled their way to a 27-0 victory over rival Fox High School in a critical Suburban West Conference clash on Friday night. Action photos from the game are available on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ArnoldPatch Senior running back Mo LaGrand was the undisputed Homecoming eve king for Oakville, as he rushed for more than 150 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Tigers to their second win of the season. UPDATE: Jimmy Huskey Leads Fox Over Mehlville in Football

Senior Jimmy Huskey ran for 162 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Warriors to a critical Suburban West Conference victory over visiting Mehlville.

The party weekend at Fox Senior High School began a little early for the Warrior faithful, who packed FHS Stadium Friday night for the 2012 Homecoming football game against Mehlville. See a full photo gallery from the game on Facebook: www.facebook.com/ArnoldPatch And none of the nearly 2,000 on hand left disappointed, as Fox, behind four touchdown runs by senior Jimmy Huskey and a dominant defensive effort, which notched six turnovers, pounded Mehlville for a 41-3 victory. "We're trying to build something here," Fox second-year head coach Brent Tinker said. "We're trying to build a team. We're trying to build a program, and a win like this is a major milestone for us — beating a traditional powerhouse like Mehlville like we did. The …

Fox Baseball Heating Up As It Heads Down Home Stretch Of 2012 Season

Back-to-back thrilling wins over Northwest, have hot-hitting Warrior baseball squad eyeing .500 mark, with 10 games left until districts.

FOX SENIOR HIGH -- When Fox High head baseball coach Neil Richardson assesses how the Warriors 2012 season has been going, he can't help but feel that if just a couple of breaks had gone his club's way, and maybe if his team had executed a little better in a couple of other situations, the Warriors might have an entirely different kind of season this year. "It started with those first two games of the season," Richardson said. "We had a ball barely get by our second baseman in one game, and then we couldn't catch a fly ball for the final out in another. Next thing you know, we're 0-2, instead of 2-0, and feeling a lot better about ourselves." Those first two losses then ballooned to five defeats in Fox's first six games, and then eight in …

Birschbach Hopes To Lead Fox Girls Hoops Back From Difficult Early Season Start

Sophomore leads Warriors in scoring, helps set the tone and attitude on defense.

When the members of the Fox High School girls basketball team emerged from their locker room after Tuesday night’s 28-23 loss to district rival Seckman High School, almost every one of them was smiling and seemed to have put the defeat behind them. Even coach Jeremy Donald seemed upbeat and mostly encouraged by the Warriors’ strong effort against the Jaguars on Tuesday. But one person, sophomore guard and team-leading scorer Erin Birschbach, came out of the locker room with tears in her eyes. She was nearly inconsolable because she was unable to lead Fox to what would’ve been a big win for this year’s team as well as the entire program. “I just really wanted to win it for (assistant coach Tim) Meeks,” Birschbach said. “He used to coach …

Oakville Tops Fox to Play for District Title

Oakville will play Lindbergh Wednesday at 6 p.m. for the district title.

Oakville and Lindbergh will again face off in an important game for both teams. Last time, they were playing for the conference title and Oakville walked away in two games to clinch the title on Senior Night. Lindbergh is vying for revenge and proved it after beating Cor Jesu Tuesday in two decisive 25-14 and 25-15 games. Oakville defeated Fox in two games (25-20 and 25-15) to get to the finals. The Warriors took an early five-point lead, but Oakville woke up after ace serves from Jennifer Brendel. Brendel also ended the game, serving the last five points for the Tigers.  The teams play at 6 p.m. at Oakville for the district title.
