Who Watches Out For Fox High School Students in Need?

A social worker in the Fox C-6 School District has discovered a way to keep needy kids in warm clothes while helping her friends clean out their own closets.

Sometimes teachers will notice a student who never seems to change his clothes or is still wearing flip flops in the winter. Sometimes kids are just struggling in another area of their life and a counselor will send them to see Gayle Beck, a Fox C-6 School District social worker. And Beck is there to help however she can. Beck’s main job as the district’s only social worker is to help families and homeless students who have needs stretching beyond academic issues. She doesn’t have a budget to directly aid families, only a list of resources in Arnold and Jefferson County where she can send families for assistance. Student Athlete College Combine Is Feb. 18

A pre-registration meeting will be held on Thursday.

An event for student athletes and their parents aims to help them wade through the confusing college scholarship and application process. All too often, many student athletes and their parents/guardians are not aware of the rules, regulations and procedures to enter college. The Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation is collaborating efforts to help student athletes get into college. The Foundation's philosophy is that any student athlete who works hard and is dedicated to advancing their live and getting the highest education, deserves an opportunity to attend college.
