Three people escaped the two-alarm blaze, but firefighters say the home is a complete loss.
Three people were able to escape a house fire in Barnhart Wednesday morning. The two-alarm fire broke out around 9 a.m. in the 2100 block of Birchwood Dr., said Glenn Nivens, deputy chief of the Antonia Fire Protection District. The fire appears to have started under the deck of the home. An off-duty Jefferson County Sheriff's officer was on his way to work when he saw smoke, Nivens said. The officer went to the home, saw the fire in the back of the house and knocked on the front door. Nobody answered, so he kicked in the door. "Fortunately, the three people inside escaped unharmed just minutes earlier and ran to a neighbor's house," Nivens said. "The home is a complete loss." A candle is believed to have been the cause of Monday's blaze on Lisa Drive, Rock Community fire officials say.
A house fire in Arnold Monday night sent one woman to the hospital with minor burns and killed a family pet. The fire broke out around 6:40 p.m. in the 3700 block of Lisa Dr., said Fire Marshall Lloyd Montgomery, of the Rock Community Fire Protection District. The homeowner, his wife and two dogs were in the home at the time. "We tried to save the one dog, but we just couldn't find it," Montgomery said. The fire began in the living room and rapidly spread throughout the house, Montgomery said. A candle is believed to have been the cause of the blaze. Three dogs and a cat were victims of an overnight fire in the 500 block of Rockwood Drive. No human injuries were reported.
A home in the 500 block of Rockwood Drive was completely destroyed by a fire that started around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday. The young couple who lived at the home were gone at the time, but their three dogs and cat were killed in the fire, said Ron Harder, public information officer of Rock Community Fire Protection District. When firefighters arrived, flames were already shooting through the roof of the home, Harder said. They were able to prevent the blaze from spreading, but the home was completely destroyed. The fire is under investigation.

It's hard not to take a dramatic photo of a big fire. Access and timeliness is the key. The big house explosion and fire in Fenton last week provided a good opportunity to capture the aftermath of the destructive destructive force of the blast and resulting fire. One man was hurt as a result of the explosion and was transported to the hospital. It was also a dramatic scene in Arnold earlier in the week when a vehicle failed to negotiate a sweeping turn northbound on Jeffco Boulevard and crashed through a chain link fence, overturning in the parking lot for a vacant business. the occupants of the car scrambled to safety and suffered only superficial injuries. The 48-year-old man found in 2435 Bock Rd. house fire on Monday was a suicide. Update at 1:10 p.m.: Paul E. Link is the man who died in the fire, the Arnold Police Department said in a news release at about 1 p.m. The autopsy report, released by the Arnold Police Department, said the man died of a self-inflicted .22 caliber gunshot to the head. Arnold police officers and Rock Community Fire Protection District firefighters responded to the fire at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday an Arnold Police Department report said. The fire began around 2 p.m. in the 2400 block of Bock Road near Jeffco Blvd.
One man has died in an afternoon house fire in the 2400 block of Bock Road near Jeffco Blvd. in Arnold. The name of the man has not been released Firefighters told KSDK-TV the man was overcome with smoke when the fire began around 2 p.m. this afternoon. The cause of the fire is unknown. According to KMOV-TV, frefighters were able to put out the blaze, but the home sustained heavy damage. Patch has calls into Maj. Nick McBroom, of the Arnold Police Department, and Ron Harder, a spokesman for the Rock Community Fire Protection District. We also have a reporter at the scene and will provide more information as soon as it's available.

The McDermott’s home, in Pomme Meadows in Arnold, was totally destroyed by fire on Feb. 19. All the McDermotts collected something, according to Fox2now, and now it's all gone. Daughter, Brittney McDermott was the first to smell smoke, and she was the one to wake the family to allow them all to escape. The father, Patrick, was hospitalized for burns and smoke inhalation. He was released on Wednesday. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Friends of the McDermotts organized a donation drive to help them get back on their feet, and on Sunday, clothes, blankets and furniture was dropped off at two firehouses: Firehouse #5 at 3749 Telegraph Road and Firehouse #1 at 1533 Jeffco Boulevard.
