After two hours of deliberations jurors turned in a guilty verdict with tears in their eyes, FOX 2 reports.

An Imperial mother has been convicted for beating her son's heroin dealer with a baseball bat in December 2011. Jurors turned in a guilty verdict with tears in their eyes after two hours of deliberations, according to our partners at FOX 2. Sherrie Gavan, 54, could face up to a year in jail for the misdemeanor third-degree assault charge. Gavan admitted to hitting Josh Loyd with a baseball bat, the station reports. She says she did it because Loyd supplied her son Clayton with heroin and hounded him to keep using even after her son quit. Nonetheless, Gavan told FOX 2's Andy Banker she was shocked by the verdict. Banker interviewed Gavan after the trial. Click here to read the full report on FOX 2
