Seckman's Rodgers Has Amazing Baseball Week

Fox girls soccer has won three consecutive games.

The spring season has not begun for all area teams, especially those that had spring break last week, but there were some memorable first week performances for several area athletes. Mehlville scored six times in the fifth inning to defeat rival Oakville 8-1 Tuesday. The Panthers pounded out 13 hits in the game with five different players (Chris Janssen, Austin Kretzer, Austin Simokaitis, Dylan Okenfuss and Matt Regan) having two each. Janssen went the distance on the mound for the Panthers. He gave up 10 hits, including three by Greg Gralike, but did not walk anyone. The next day was a different story for the Panthers, who fell to Lindbergh 15-2. Sean Murphy had a huge day at the plate for the Flyers as he had three hits, all doubles, and…

Suburban West: Fox's Farr Rewarded For Outstanding Soccer Season

Fox sophomore forward Kayla Farr is a first-team all-conference selection.

The 2011 season was a memorable one for several girls soccer teams in the Suburban West Conference. For Fox, it was a tough, forgettable season. However, sophomore forward Kayla Farr remained a bright spot throughout this past season, and the Warrriors star has been rewarded with a first-team all-conference selection. Though Fox went 6-14 this season, and 0-8 in league play, Farr shined brightly. She scored a team-leading nine goals and added a team-best five assists. Lafayette won the league title and also captured the Class 3 District 4 championship. Meanwhile, Lindbergh won 20 games and also won a district title, winning in Class 3 District 2. Northwest won only two league games but peaked in the playoffs, winning the Class 3 District 1…
