Emergency Officials: Stay Off the Rivers Until Water Levels Recede

Three people had to be rescued from the Meramec near Arnold Sunday after their canoe capsized, according to KSDK-TV.

Emergency officials with the Rock Community Fire Protection District are warning people to stay off the rivers until the waters recede. That after three people had to be pulled from the Meramec River Sunday after their canoe capsized, reports KSDK-TV. Mass Casualty Drill Tests St. Joseph Students

The school's Teen Student Emergency Response Team practiced preparedness in case of a disaster during school hours.

St. Joseph School members of the School Emergency Response Team (SERT) trained in a mock "mass casualty" incident on April 15, the Rock Community Fire Protection District announced in a news release. The Teen Student Emergency Response Team (SERT) is an elite team of teens trained by Rock Community Fire District to respond to emergencies in the event of a natural or manmade disaster at school.  Nine schools participate in the monthly training.

Ron Counts Wins Back Arnold Mayoral Seat

Counts garnered 2036 votes compared to challenger Doris Borgelt's 922, according to unofficial election results. Here's an update on the other candidates and ballot issue.

Ron Counts will serve as Arnold's mayor another four years. Counts received 2036 votes compared to challenger Doris Borgelt's 922, according to unofficial election results from the Jefferson County Clerk's Office. Patch was on hand at Counts' watch party at Ponderosa in Arnold when the reults came in. We requested information so we could attend Borgelt's watch party, but she declined to comment on where it would be. "I had a wonderful group of people behind me in the campaign and I want to thank each and every one of you," Counts said, after the results were announced. Trio Called Real Heroes for Saving Driver in Arnold

The three people who rescued a driver who was having a seizure on Vogel Road were recognized at a ceremony Monday and personally thanked by the woman they saved.

Three people who came to the aid of a driver who was having a seizure on Vogel Road were honored for their heroic actions by the Rock Community Fire Protection District Monday night. Ron Harder, the district's spokesperson, presented each good Samaritan with a plaque for their service to the community at a ceremony at the district's headquarters Monday night. "The real heroes are everyday citizens like yourself that come to the aid of someone in need - someone who's there to help someone who might have perished," Harder said. 2-Hour Rescue Search on Meramec River Yields No Results

Emergency crews responded to a call on Sunday from someone who thought they saw a person in distress in the water. However, authorities were unable to find anything amiss.

After an exhaustive two-hour search on the Meramec River Sunday, emergency responders weren't able to find anyone in distress. Ron Harder, a spokesman with the Rock Community Fire Protection District, said the district received a call around 11 a.m. from someone who thought they saw a person in distress in the water.  "When crews got there, they didn't see anything out of the ordinary, and there were no bystanders around," Harder said. "They did a complete sweep up and down the Meramec for two hours, and then determined it to be unfounded." The Saline Valley Fire Protection District assisted in the call, Harder said.
