Traffic Alert: MoDOT Resumes I-270 Lane Closures

MoDOT is once again closing all lanes on north and southbound I-270 so crews can blast rock.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has resumed daily Interstate 270 lane closures to allow crews to resume blasting rock along the interstate as part of the I-270 lane expansion project. According to a MoDOT news release, the approximately 15-minute closures will take place in both directions of I-270 from Interstate 44 to Manchester Road starting Wednesday. The road will close at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each weekday, to blast rock south of Dougherty Ferry Road. "Crews will need to blast and then clear any rock from the roadway before reopening the interstate," Wednesday's news release stated.  MoDOT is also urging drivers to use alternate routes and adjust travel times …

I-270 Section Shut Down for Blasting on Tuesday

MoDOT is warning drivers to avoid I-270 during the morning and afternoon hours when blasting will occur and close the road for about 15 minutes at a time. It begins Tuesday and will last all week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning drivers to  avoid Interstate 270 between Big Bend and Manchester roads this week due to rock blasting. Beginning Tuesday, drivers should expect daily lane closures on I-270 between Big Bend Road and Manchester Road for about 15 minutes per blast throughout the workday and during the week. The closures will take place at approximately 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m, MoDOT spokesperson Kara Price previously told Patch. During the closures, road crews will blast rock and then clear any debris from the interstate prior to reopening the lanes. However, closures may last longer than 15 minutes. Drivers advised to avoid that area from 9:50 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and then again from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. The …
