With New Season Comes Big Changes at Arnold Farmers Market

In its second year, the Arnold Farmers Market will see some improvements for visitors.

Shoppers to the Arnold Farmers Market last year browsed the vendors' offerings underneath temporary tents outside Fox Middle School. That led to visitors walking around on asphalt during the hot summer months.

Organizers learned from last year, and have changed the location, said Teresa Kohut, administrative assistant for the Arnold Parks and Recreation Department. The market will move to Arnold City Park starting this year.

"It will be a cooler spot in the park as opposed to on asphalt," Kohut said. "And it's a scenic destination. We're hoping for more foot traffic."

The location is only one change being implemented this year. Instead of temporary tents, vendors will be located underneath permanent structures—comparable to pavilions—at the park.

They're still under construction, but will be ready by the market's opening on Saturday, Kohut said. The market, which runs from 8 a.m. until noon each Saturday, will last until Oct. 26.

Shoppers can expect to see candles, flowers, baked goods, eggs, starter plants and more during this week's market, Kohut said.

Kids activities will be available at the market too, and visitors will be treated to entertainment from fiddlers from Sperring and Truman middle schools.
